Week 2 - its getting harder

OK, I've made it to the end of week 2 - I'm officially half way through my treatment.  This week has been a bit tough, I had my new lump off on Monday, I got 3 staples.  Mum got my results on Thursday - benign.... yahooooo!  But ever since I had my newest lump off, I don't like going to BVSC for my treatment anymore.  And you know, its not that they aren't all super nice, and give me treats and cuddles and everything, because they do.  But I just don't want to be there anymore.  On Wednesday, mum dropped me out, I was really not wanting to be there, so I started shaking, I really couldn't help it, and my teeth were chattering, and I drooled a bit, and sat on mums lap having cuddles waiting for them to come and take me in.  When they came they had to prize me off of mums leg and drag me away.  It was really sad, mum looked so upset and worried, I've tried to be braver ever since, but its really hard, I still shake.  When I go to Dr Rods for a lift, I try to get in the way of the door shutting, but it doesn't work.
Waiting to go - in Dr Rod's car

On Wednesday night, mum took me with her to training - I had to wait in my crate (with a kong and long lasting chewy) until all the classes were finished.  When they had, I got out and played with my people friends and raided a few treat pouches.  I had a great time, I even got to play a bit of flyball.  It was soooo much fun, and it was so good to see mum smiling and laughing, because I think she was really upset.  Her eyes were wet and dripping (whats with that??).

My new wound with staples
My radiation wound isn't too bad yet, I want to lick at it, and at my staples, so I have the cone still, and my scar is slightly redder but not too bad yet.  They say next week is going to be the week, and from there it will get worse.  We aren't looking forward to it.

Post treatment treat - Popcorn chicken
My special post radiation treats continue - my favorite this week - KFC popcorn chicken.

Mum and Granne set up the ginormous crate. They say I'm going to need to spend a bit of time in it, away from the other dogs and there icky sticky licky tongues.  Mum said she will sleep on the floor next to me once I have to stay in it, and I spotted a new box of toys that she says I can have when I'm in my crate.

I don't know how much time I will have to play though.  I'm really starting to get quite tired, and on Thursday I nodded off while watching mum eat her dinner, very odd.  Biscuit and I have been having a few snoozes together, its kind of nice.

I've had a pretty chilled weekend. Mum went out on Friday night and got home really late, I think it was in the early hours of the morning, but I got to sleep in the big bed all by myself until she got home.  Then we had a sleep in on Saturday morning (no 0600 alarm like weekdays - to get me where I have to be on time).
I went and watched the other dogs at agility, and raided a few treat pouches while I was there.  I also got to have 1 quick run, so that was heaps of fun.  I had a turkey neck as a treat on Saturday afternoon, and a few extra kongs over the weekend (I'm getting a bit skinny - because I have to fast every weekday morning), otherwise I slept the rest of the weekend away - you know from my bed, to mums bed, to couch, to deck, to in front of heater, to mums bed, to lay in the sun, to lay at mums feet, and back to mums bed.

I'm not really looking forward to starting another week of treatment tomorrow, but at least I'm half way and it will be all over soon.

Here is a pic of my leg at end of week 2 - nothing really to show yet.

Yawn, getting tired again, time to head off to mums bed for another snooze.

Lots of Love and Licks

  2. Thanks Sharon. We had a good sleep last night, and I'm ready for what this week has to throw at me.
Wish it wasn't so cold on my morning drop off walk though. Brrrr. I almost was happy to get in Dr Rods car today.
